About Medicinal Mindfulness Academy
Bringing our Legacy into Licensing™
Medicinal Mindfulness Academy’s NMHA Facilitator Training has evolved out of our experience leading our internationally recognized Psychedelic Guide Training that was established in 2012, Psychedelic Sitters School, and since that time we’ve led 34 training cohorts. The Academy integrates our established Guide Training program with NMHA requirements in a modular format so that Legacy and Clinical practitioners seeking accelerated licensing can also complete their training without taking unnecessary classes. We are committed to career counseling and supporting graduates of other programs or students with significant Legacy experience who are seeking accelerated licensing, and have created an apprenticeship program in our psychedelic clinic in Boulder, Colorado to provide opportunities for real world experience.
We offer the full didactic training program over a 6 month period, twice a year, with training beginning in January and again in July. These are known as our Spring and Fall Semesters. The courses can also be spread out over a 12 month period.
Our training modules include ongoing weekly classes for professional and therapeutic practice development, interspersed with twice monthly Saturday classes that complete specific modules required in the Natural Medicine Health Act.
The Academy offers Continuing Education electives that cover other important guide topics not required by the NMHA, including Psychedelic Business Acumen and Conscious Entrepreneurship, Advanced Music Facilitation, Art-Based Preparation and Integration, psychedelic movement and self care modules and most importantly Psychedelic First Aid, a course specifically designed for first aid and mental health crisis support that surpasses the NMHA requirement of Basic Life Support.
These and other events and courses can be viewed on the allied website Psychedelic Shine.
Not only do we dive deep into the academic and theoretical orientations necessary to be a knowledgeable guide, our students are invited into an immersive psychedelic practice to initiate the very necessary personal process required to become a resilient and sustainable guide. This immersive practice includes multiple psychedelic experiences and opportunities to practice the skill sets we teach in safe, supported containers with partners and in small groups.
We have designed multiple, high quality and financially accessible practicum opportunities that are local, with no need to travel to Oregon or another country to fully complete your licensing requirements.
Our supervisors in our NMHA proposed consulting program are clinically trained and are advanced psychedelic practitioners with years of real world professional experience. We have decades of verifiable, above board experience practicing as legal psychedelic guides and our practices are rooted in the ethical legacies of traditional and modern psychedelic practices.
All of our students are required to complete a thorough application and interview process and we only select students who we believe have the maturity, competence and mental stability required to be ethical and competent guides. All of our students are required to sign agreements to follow our code of conduct and ethical practices to ensure that we have a safe, supportive container for learning and transformational support. We accept students from diverse professional backgrounds because we believe we each have the right to access quality education in the field of psychedelics regardless of holding clinical or medical licenses.
We are longtime supporters of Chacruna Institute, as well as activist organizations such as The Last Prisoner Project, fighting to release psychedelic medicine and cannabis prisoners from incarceration. See our governance page for more information on our community initiatives and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Informational lectures are in a webinar format to make our program as financially accessible as possible. These webinar series are a complete collection of foundational practices every psychedelic guide needs to know, but held within a cohesive, complete facilitation modality called Mindfulness-Based Psychedelic Therapy™ (MBPT). MBPT is a cohesive skill development program, not just a collection of disparate teachings from leaders in the field. This allows us to focus on a single, comprehensive practice that combines principles of many psychedelic traditions. More information about MBPT can be read here.
Providing the lectures in this context allows us to focus our class time together on community and relationships, experiential learning and important conversations where we can discuss the nuance of psychedelic guiding while also supporting the profound transformational processes that are elicited in our students by these practices.
We invite you to explore our training program on this website, and if it is in alignment with your personal values, please join our community of professional guides.
